About A.D. Maddox
AD Maddox has traveled from her native Tennessee to the rivers of the world. Specifically, Wyoming has captured her heart and her artistic endeavors have flourished in the beautiful surrounds of Jackson Hole. An avid fly fisherwoman and motorcycle enthusiast, she has translated her passion for beauty, nature and excitement into her art.
Using materials such as acrylics, oils, canvas, wood, and metal, she fashions paintings, furniture and a variety of functional objects in her energetic and unique style using carving and bold painting techniques.
"I love to build something that moves me. I'm constantly challenged by the flow of a painting ... it has its own energy. There's so much vibration using electric colors and my job is to guide it."
Most recently AD is working on bug art ... a series called "splat the hatch." Strapping a wet canvas to her Ducati bike, she finishes the pieces with a touch of nature ... bugs landing on the paintings to complete the work.
"It allows me to bridge my non-productive play time with production that builds my morale."
AD has a degree in Sports Medicine from the University of Colorado; She attended the Portfolio Center in Atlanta, GA and worked under established artists Kamy, Flournoy Holmes, and Lee White.
